A Neighborhood-Kind of Place
You know those bars you visit regularly that just have a good feel to them? The people who work there seem to know that you are a return visitor and you create a camaraderie with them and the other patrons that you have seen at the bar more than once. It becomes your local favorite for a quick happy hour before dinner or even spending a few hours on a Saturday afternoon watching your favorite sports team. Mead Street Station on 32nd St. in the upper highlands is this bar for me. The happy hour starts at 3PM everyday and always features select microbrews along with nightly events. It is in the heart of 32nd St., so it is within walking distance to shops and restaurants, making it a convenient drink stop before or after dinner.
However, if in the search for more than just drinks, their food is absolute quality. Items on the menu include Red Bird Chicken, an Ahi Tuna Salad with Wasabi Vinaigrette, and vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. Mead Street Station lacks pretention and boasts locality, and practices a genuine care for their patrons.
