Located within an 1880’s renovated warehouse turned epicurean market in the RiNo (River North) art district, Acorn, the “sister” restaurant to OAK at fourteenth in Boulder, serves up eclectic, contemporary American cuisine alongside craft cocktails and hand selected wines and beers in a neighborhood-driven environment. With an atmosphere filled with concrete floors, graffitied walls, exposed beams and ductwork, the real warmth is derived from the wood-fired oven and grills.

The menu, seasonally inspired and ever changing, consists of traditional American dishes infused with eclectic, innovative spices and ingredients that make up the “small plates,” “shared plates,” and the “large plates.” The “small plates,” similar to appetizers, are inventive and varietal, perfect for ordering two or three and pairing with craft cocktails during a happy hour. The “shared plates,” are sufficient as an entree and the “large plates” can serve two to five, with such items as a 56 oz. bone-in pork shoulder that is sure to feed a whole dinner table.

Open for lunch, mid-day, and dinner during the week, the food and beverage menu can suit any time of day. Co-owner, Bryan Dayton, an award-winning mixologist has created a cocktail menu, organized into three categories by means of alcoholic strength, to satisfy a wide range of palates.  With everything from “booze free” items to housemade soda and ingredient driven cocktails, there seems to be something for everyone to enjoy.

Be sure to visit this innovative establishment soon, as the restaurant is featuring the highly desirable “razor clams” and the seared Hudson Valley “Cyrus” Foie Gras Donut.” With favorites from OAK at fourteenth in Boulder and new seasonal essentials, Acorn at The Source is an appealing, out of the ordinary eatery to endeavor to.
